SBK, Camier with shoulder surgery, returns to Portimao

Saturday, July 13, 2019,
On Friday, the Honda rider underwent surgery on his left shoulder, injured at Imola almost two months ago. He could return to the track in Portimao after the summer break.
The ordeal of Leon Camier continues: the fall of Imola, in which he suffered an injury to his left shoulder, forced him to miss the last four rounds of this season and, while all the drivers are at Laguna Seca for the ninth round of the championship, the British of the Honda has undergone a surgery on Friday to try to solve the shoulder problem.

Until the last, the British hoped to avert the operation, which later proved inevitable. The intervention took place at the Arm Clinic in Wilmslow, near Manchester, and Honda announced: "The decision was made to operate despite the progress made so far in terms of rehabilitation and physiotherapy, which allowed Camier to fully recover the shoulder movement. But when Leon tried a Supermotard motorcycle, it became clear that he had not yet regained strength on his shoulder ".

"This week further tests were carried out - reads the Honda statement - and the doctors considered it appropriate to work to stabilize the recovery. The intervention was done on Friday to give Camier the chance to recover during the long summer break ".

At first, the driver was hoping to return to the Donington round, but was forced to remain stationary, also announcing the flat for Laguna Seca, scheduled for this weekend. In both events, the team decided to bring only one driver to the track, deploying only Ryuichi Kiyonari. No substitute will therefore go up on the CBR1000RR Fireblade number 2, which should recover his pilot during the tests at the end of August in Portimao.
